Meet Tanya Hilson

Hi, my name is Tanya Hilson, and to simply put it I love to write.

My passion for writing started at a young age and has stayed with me throughout my life, but I would never have thought in a million years that I'd be writing screenplays, stage plays, television pilots, or children's books due to my dyslexia. I like to write because it humbles me within, and it's therapeutic to me; sharing my stories with others brings me joy.

I'm a mother of two children and grandmother to a beautiful granddaughter. A passionate humanitarian to my core, I also run a nonprofit organization called WeLiveOn2, which supports low-income families by teaching them computer literacy and job readiness skills, as well as helping people who have been previously incarcerated obtain employment. We also run a program called "Sandwiches on Wheels," which helps feed the homeless within and around the Chicagoland area.

Outside of work, I love spending quality time with family, loved ones, and friends. I also enjoy cooking, playing cards, watching movies, and video games. Again, as I stated initially, I never thought I’d be writing Screenplays, Children's books, or Stage plays, but I love the joy of storytelling.

If I put a smile on someone’s face after they have read my books/scripts or even listened to my audibles, I know then I got the job done. My belief is,

Back’Porch Secrets was a little different type of read for me but I really did enjoy it!! Like Ms. Ruby said, “All you need is a little faith, the size of a mustard seed”.

Accountant

Ruby’s Diner started off funny, but it turned out to be an emotional read. You never know what someone’s been through. We all need a Ms. Ruby in our lives. I love how the characters were portrayed in the book especially Gigi and Debbie. I would love to see this make it to TV on streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon prime

As a pediatric therapist I love the message in this book. It’s so important for ALL kids to understand that they are unique, incredible and have much to offer.
